Have I told you lately that I love you. . . .

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Hubby has been on B shift for about a month now (3pm-12ish) and it's coming to an end and here is what I have gathered.

Baby is
-crazy
-out of control
-tantrum thrower
-has to have everything THIS SECOND

BUT. A HUGE BUT!

after his nap these past few days he is the most sweetest angel ever.

for example tonight. . .
all he wanted to do was just play and play and play.
we "wrestled". chased each other. ate dinner TOGETHER.
and none of that before nap time stuff.
I also got some flash cards today from the Dollar Tree and we learned some numbers and he was SO HAPPY! he giggled and cheered and just wanted more and more. He and I (which he NEVER) forgots about his baba (his goats milk)! He also loves to dance [I put on the radio during bath time].
I am sorta gunna miss one on one time with baby while daddy is at work but it will be nice to have a helping hand around the house at night again.

On another note we got a couch today. . . well we bought it, but it will be here next Wednesday. Slowly but surely I'll make this house a home step by step. My next purchases [in the distant future] is to buy a nice dining room table we can all sit at and enjoy. Right now its dinner trays or one adult and baby at the table. The last big purchase later on is a futon for the guest room/office. [we have a blow up bed for now] and not expecting any guest to stay over.

Lastly, I have been wanting to take pictures of people. Tomorrow is play group so I will hopefully get some there. It's just awkward [to me] because we are all friendly and I ask to take their pictures and they liked last weeks, but I guess I'm not so outgoing in that situation. The photo walk was fun and opened my eyes to how many places you've never been to would be the perfect backdrop to certain photos/people.

Enough of my rambles.

Until next time. . . . . .

little mister is a model for me

So. Today was a relaxish day. Baby and I went to a neighbors house and hung out. Then baby was throwing a bit of a fit. [I think due to teething]  Anyways before we left she gave us a YUMMY pumpkin chocolate chip muffin that was so delicious. Baby then took a nap and I made a flier for my MIL's work and when he woke up I got the snapping on my camera. He attacks me in smiles and literally attacks me when I pull out of the camera. Anyways that's all about what was going on today.

Here are the photos I got.

Isn't he handSOME.

Hanging out with my Florida Teether.

Oh yea.

Just reading a book.

Oh & watching the Olympics.

This is his real reading face and add some heavy breathing.

The End.

Until next time. . . .

photowalk

Saturday, July 28, 2012

So I joined a local photography of [city I am in] on facebook page and today they had a photo-walk. [I haven't heard of one of these before butttt. I was intrigued and it is self explanatory of just what it is.] Also, it meant I got to go out of the house ALONE and with two friends that were there too. [one I rode with]
Anyways, I will include the pictures at the bottom but after the photo walk the friend I rode with and I went to a yummy restaurant and got alone mommy/adult time. [which was of course much needed] and now I just got done editing photos and about to call it a night soon.

Enjoy.

so this looked great in person [imo] I thought it was a weird placement seeing as it is under a bench but I liked it so I shot it.

benches.

train.

I loved and loved and loved the placement of this "IT'S UP TO YOU" as it is behind the ladder. what a great quote/saying.

rusty part of the train.

railroad crossing sign.

I personally really liked this train because of the chevronny feel it gave me.

My gorgeous friend and buddy I rode with.

Isn't this old rusty truck a beaut?

Nice headlights. :P

so much detail.

great spot for a shoot.

She's a trooper. It was like 100 [no joke] and she still was willing to pose for me.

Windmill love at sunset.

Like my all time favorite spot I found today because I just picture a 9 month pregnant lady there holding her beautiful bump.

playgroup

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

So, last week Hubby's squadron Commanders' wife put together a 3 & under playgroup for all the spouses and kids. I say spouses because mom's need to have adult talk sometimes too [ or we might go craaazZZy ]. Anyways, so today our group met again and I love it. I feel like baby needs to get to know other kids his own age (which about 4 of them are either a month older or younger or basically weeks within his age range). I decided to take my camera this time to give the ladies some photos and sort of show other spouses that are afraid to get out there (in our squadron). That's about all we've done so far today.  We are about to make our rounds to give our "Welcome to your new Home" gifts to the two sweet ladies.  Here are the pictures I took.

[ isn't she adorable ]

Until next time. . . . .

new to the neighborhood

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

So, two girls I recently met moved into our neighborhood and I am settling into "homemaking" (HA!) Anyways they seem super nice and they are permanent party (we are at a training base) so that's sometimes hard to come by. I wanted to do something nice for them and got my inspiration from here. I was like awesome idea. So I set out to one of my favorite stores TARGET! They are both mostly the same with one thing different. Let's look at the items.

1. Something to put the items in.
I picked up a bucket at first in the dollar section [you know the "target trap" they put at the front of the store] but later went back for a smaller item to put all the goodies in and got a colander. This was only $1.

2. Soap (Lavender *snifffffffffffffff*)

3. Ibuprofen for all of the unpacking, dealing with TMO and the moving company, finding things broken or missing. . . just the normal stuff in a PCS.

4. An air freshener to get that nice new smell in your new home.

5. In one of them neighbors gift I put a ADORABLE appetizer plate that was $1.49. I thought this was so fitting seeing as she is photographer. [A great one at that, she is taking our Christmas card photo later this year].

- The other neighbors something extra is a cute pop-up calendar.

6. And of course a Home Sweet Home! Best of Luck in your new nest card :)

I also bought air freshener for my house and crayons to do some melted crayon art for a Christmas present and only spent under $22 bucks!

[other neighbors gift]

In other news my little guy has turned into Superman!

Superman plays with toys.

Superman reads books

Superman is adorable

He also plays with doggies.

Reach for the stars Superman!

Until next time . . . .

quick thought I've been having. . .

Sunday, July 22, 2012

I feel like sometimes my husband doesn't get why I like to decorate or want to make this house . . . a certain way. It's simply because I want my house to be a home. I want Louis to have friends over (and I want this house that kids want to come over to because it's so comfortable). I want to entertain, make memories, and be able to relax. It may sound dumb but I want to have a place that I look around and feel happy and glad to be. Being in a military family I feel you have to create wherever you are "your home". You have to set some sort of roots down (to be later ripped out and replanted somewhere else). So adding special touches to the house, like initials, or making crafts to hang is how I do so. I know I know sort of a random rant but I was just thinking and wanted to document it.

Until next time. . .

up all night. . .

no pictures today.
:(

Although, I've been pinning for the last hour. . . or longer. I am going to try to make or DIY around 80-85% of the Christmas Gifts this year.

I am pinning the night away thinking of gifts to give to people.
I came across a gift that I've been meaning to give to two people that just moved into this neighborhood.
It's >>> this.

It is simple, not too expensive, and something thoughtful.
I plan to also include a card welcoming them to the neighborhood and dropping the gift on their door step during a stroll with baby.

I have so many ideas and I can not wait to make them all.

On other news, hubby's squadron put together a playgroup for 3 and under and I am excited to get to know the other moms and maybe form a rotation of houses we can host playgroups at.

Which leads me to my next subject. On this fine (hotter then hell) Saturday, we looked at couches and found one we were comfortable in. (After baby was born we got recliners [instead of a glider I wanted to be able to use it for a while] and we weren't fond of our old couch that was falling apart so we sold it and have only had two recliners). Therefore it was time to get a new couch set and I really want to because I want to have mommies over and entertain and just be able to seat friends and family.

So anyways that is about it for now.

Until next time. . . .

Quinoa Dip

Friday, July 13, 2012

So you want amazing and delicious dip for your tortilla chips? or to stuff in a tortilla wrap to make a yummy healthy "burrito"? or just a fun yummy snack?

I got this recipe from Shayloss . (video to show you how to make it)

It is really yummy and very filling (which I had doubts it wouldn't be) but so good! I made it by their recipe but I will change some things when I make it again.  I took pictures for most of the steps so follow me as we make some dip!

These are the ingredients I used.
[ olive oil, corn, black beans, quinoa, cumin, (not pictured salt), bell pepper (any), limes, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, onion, and jalapeno (optional I didn't end up using it), and love :) ]

Before all this start your Quinoa (I did 2 cups of Quinoa and 3 cups of water but I would do 1 cup of Quinoa and 1 1/2 cup of water next time)

Chop up the onions.

Chop up the tomatoes.

Take the cilantro off the stems and you can chop them up as well.

Chop up the bell peppers.

Rinse the corn, drain, and pour in the bowl.

Rinse the black beans, drain, pour in the bowl.

Mince

Your Quinoa should be done now (make sure no water puddles are in there and test to see if done) and mix with the rest of the yummyness!

[Not pictured: 1/3 cup of olive oil, 1 tea spoon of salt, 1 table spoon of cumin, and two limes (I might like 1 or 1 1/2 half next time) mixed in a separate bowl (so all the cumin is broken up and mixed) and pour and toss the dip.

& here is the finish product.

You can eat with chips, in a burrito, or just by it self. It is so yummy and healthy!

P.S. Look at this awesome cute shorts I've been wanting for Louis and found some at Walmart!

Until next time. . . . .
